Donny & Marie Osmond’s show at the Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel and Casino resumed yesterday after they cancelled another week of shows to allow the family more time to mourn the death of Marie’s adopted son, Michael.
Michael died Feb. 27th from an apparent suicide due to a long-time battle with depression.
Marie Osmond’s publicist Alan Nierob said “that it’s been a difficult time for the Osmonds, and the performer felt like she needed to spend more with her family,” according to the Associated Press.
Instead of taking a two-week vacation in April, the brother-sister duo have added shows April 13-17 to make up for the first round of cancelled dates in March. Marie is reportedly glad to be back on stage because she finds the performances to be “cathartic.”
Performances take place Tuesday through Saturday, but are off Sundays and Mondays.

In an unexpectedly tragic turn of events, Michael Blosil, the 18-yr. old son of Marie Osmond, died on Saturday in Los Angeles in an apparent suicide.
Blosil jumped from the roof a downtown apartment building, and reportedly left a note referring to his longtime struggle with depression, a struggle his mother Marie has also dealt with. Michael was one of Osmond’s five adopted children.
“My family and I are devastated and in deep shock by the tragic loss of our dear Michael and ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time,” Osmond said in the statement.
Marie Osmond and her equally talented brother Donny are currently performing a reprise of their musical variety show in Las Vegas, but canceled Saturday’s performance in light of the heartbreaking news.

Rarely can you find one family with as much musical talent and experience as the Osmonds.
The older sons—Alan, Wayne, Merrill and Jay—began performing barbershop quartet as children in 1958, before the younger siblings Donny, Marie and Jimmy came aboard.
After several ups-and-downs over the next several decades in music and television, Donny and Marie emerged as the frontrunners of the family, where they remain today. They are reviving their TV variety show that was incredibly popular in the mid-1970s with a long-time run in Vegas.
Over the next several months, Donny and Marie will be performing at the Flamingo Hilton in Las Vegas on an almost-nightly basis. Osmond tickets from February through June are currently for sale, and they have another performance already scheduled at the hotel in December.
